Born and raised in Victoria, Troy graduated from UVic in 1996 with a Bachelor of Education. After teaching in Victoria for ten years, Troy decided he wanted to have an impact globally as well as locally. In August of 2007, Troy founded the Canadian World Education Society (CanWES) in an attempt to provide educational opportunities for young people in impoverished nations. As well as teaching, Troy enjoys playing and coaching soccer, filmmaking, and photography. He and his wife recently celebrated the arrival of their first child.
JACQUI TEN HOVE

Jacqui graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria in 1996, and she has been teaching for the past nineteen years. She began her career in Fort St. James, British Columbia before returning to Victoria in 2001. She takes advantage of thebeautiful west coast climate – running, hiking and spending outdoor time with her husband and two children. Jacqui has been involved with CanWES since it’s inception, and as a dedicated teacher, she is extremely proud to be helping CanWES in providing quality education to the students at the Everest English School in Sanitar, Nepal.

Kevin is a graduate from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Education. He has since earned his Masters degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University. Kevin has spent much of his teaching career involving himself in extracurricular sports, coaching both Basketball and Football. He is married and has two boys.Kevin is pleased to have been a part of CanWES for the past seven years.
Steve is a Chartered Accountant from Victoria. He is married with two children. Steve enjoys spending time with his family and most sports, but would like to play more rounds of golf. He works with two other nonprofit societies, including a drug and alcohol rehabilitation and awareness society in Victoria. Steve’s dad was a teacher in the Sooke School district for decades, which is why Steve believes strongly that the best chance for children to succeed is through a good education program. He is happy to be part of CanWES to help provide that start for children in areas of the world where they would not otherwise receive that opportunity.
Bruce graduated from the University of Victoria’s Commerce program where he studied International Business. He also attended Santa Rosa Jr. College in California where he played soccer on the varsity team. Bruce works for RBC Dominion Securities where he helps individuals, families, corporations and foundations achieve their financial goals. Bruce spends his spare time enjoying the outdoors including playing soccer and coaching his son play youth soccer in Victoria.
Rebecca graduated from Belmont in June 2010 and has gone on to further her education at the University of Victoria under the Faculty of Humanities. Rebecca enjoys playing piano and soccer and loves camping. During the summer months when she’s not attending school, Rebecca enjoys working with children as a summer camp leader for West Shore Parks and Recreation. Rebecca has enjoyed volunteering with CanWES over the past five years, and continues to look forward to future endeavors.
Steve graduated from UVic in 1994 in Kinesiology; he went on the complete a Master’s Degree at UVic in Recreation and Leisure Administration in 2000. He has been working in community development and recreation for the past fifteen years and is currently the Manager of Community Services for the District of Saanich. Steve spends his recreation time doing whatever it is his daughters want to do, and occasionally he gets to chase a black and white ball around a field. He is passionate about building community at the local level and is looking forward to building community on the global level.
